Michael Arndt

Michael grew up in the Midwest and in Eastern Washington. In high school, he learned general construction trades. He has worked as a finish carpenter, framer, roofer, plumber, electrician, welder and waterproofing installer. He owned his own general contracting firm for over 25 years, and currently works as an artist and construction consultant.

In 2012 he started welding after a long pause, using unwanted tools, bolts, nuts and rusty parts of old equipment to create functional items such as stair treads and handrail panels. Later, he started working with found objects- construction site waste and motorcycle parts- to create one-of-a-kind lamps.  Whether it is a gas pump nozzle found by the side of the road or a decommissioned electric boiler, Michael can see the endless possibilities for incorporating these objects into a work of art. Using his analytical abilities, he visually approaches each project as if it were a puzzle, creating unique art forms organically from random materials, giving them new life and purpose.

His can-do attitude of “Anything is Possible” has allowed him to create, contribute to some incredible works in the Seattle area. And his keen sense of design, combined with his vast knowledge of construction techniques, have made him successful in making the new fit with the old, seamlessly blending new styles with traditional work.  His clients trust his “eye” to create that perfect space and environment they were seeking.
